Vikings fullback Felton charged with DWI
CINCINNATI, May 17 (UPI) -- Kerry Wood's eighth-inning throwing error allowed the game-tying runs to score Tuesday and Cincinnati went to post a 7-5 win over the Chicago Cubs.
The Reds entered the frame trailing 5-3 but capitalized on Wood's miscue to score four unearned runs and then hang on to notch their fifth straight win.
Scott Rolen doubled and Fred Lewis singled to start the rally. Ryan Hanigan then laid down a sacrifice bunt try, which Wood (1-3) grabbed and fired to third in a bid to force Rolen, but his throw sailed past Aramis Ramirez and rolled all the way down the left field line.
Two runs scored on the play and Chris Heisey then lofted a sacrifice fly to drive in Hanigan with the go-ahead run for Cincinnati.
The comeback made a winner of Bill Bray (1-0), who retired Chicago's Blake DeWitt with two on and two out in the top of the eighth, and Nick Masset picked up his first save with a scoreless ninth.
Carlos Pena bashed a three-run homer for the Cubs, who committed four errors in the contest.
