CINCINNATI, May 16 (UPI) -- Jonny Gomes capped a big six-inning rally with a two-run homer Monday and the Cincinnati Reds came from behind to stun the Chicago Cubs 7-4.
Trailing 4-0 entering the sixth, the Reds sent 13 men to plate, scoring seven times on six hits, two walks and a wild pitch.
After run-scoring singles by Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips and Jay Bruce, Cubs left-fielder Alfonso Soriano let Scott Rolen's catchable fly ball sail over his head to let in a game-tying run off Carlos Zambrano (4-2).
Marcos Mateo came in to pitch and nearly beaned Gomes with his first delivery, which deflected off catcher Koyie Hill's glove, allowing Bruce to score the go-ahead run.
Gomes then smashed a home run off Mateo to complete the scoring for the Reds, who won their fourth straight.
Homer Bailey (3-0) earned the victory, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits over six innings.
Carlos Pena smacked a two-run homer for Chicago.
