PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., May 14 (UPI) -- Graeme McDowell and Nick Watney were knotted atop the leaderboard at 11-under-par Saturday when third-round play of The Players Championship was suspended.

McDowell, the reigning U.S. Open champion, had completed five holes and stood at 3-under when darkness forced a suspension of play after rain forced a 4 1/2-hour delay earlier in the day.

Watney, meanwhile, was minus-2 through five holes at the TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Tied one stroke further back at 10-under were Steve Stricker (2-under) and second-round leader David Toms (even) after five holes.
