CHICAGO, May 14 (UPI) -- Ryan Vogelsong tossed six shutout innings Saturday in the San Francisco Giants' rain-shortened 3-0 victory over the New York Mets.
Vogelsong (3-0), who took the spot of injured Barry Zito in the Giants' rotation, yielded seven hits over six innings before the contest was called after 6 1/2 frames due to rain.
The right-hander walked only one and struck out seven as the Giants logged their seventh straight win and took sole possession of first place in the National League West.
Buster Posey collected a first-inning RBI single and the Giants scored runs on errors by the Cubs' Koyie Hill and Blake DeWitt.
Veteran left-hander Doug Davis (0-1), recalled from Class AAA Iowa before the game, yielded only one earned run over five innings. He allowed four hits and one walk while fanning six.
