ARLINGTON, Texas, May 14 (UPI) -- Maicer Izturis lined a ninth-inning single Saturday, scoring Jeff Mathis with the go-ahead run and sending the Los Angeles Angels to a 3-2 win over Texas.
Mathis led off with a single off Darren Oliver (1-4) and went to second on a sacrifice by Peter Bourjos. One out and a walk later, Izturis lined a first-pitch breaking ball into left, scoring the eventual winning run.
Alberto Callaspo added a pair of RBI doubles for the Angels, who evened their three-game series with the Rangers.
Scott Downs (1-0) got the win after dousing a Texas rally in the eighth in which the Rangers tied the score on Michael Young's run-scoring infield hit.
Jordan Walden tossed a 1-2-3 ninth to collect his seventh save. Angels starter Dan Haren went 7 2/3 innings, yielding two runs on six hits.
Texas starter Derek Holland held the Angels to two runs on six hits over six frames.
Adrian Beltre added an RBI for the Rangers.
