SON SERVERA, Spain, May 13 (UPI) -- Chris Wood shot a 5-under-par 65 Friday and amassed a 3-stroke lead at the halfway point of the European Tour's Iberdrola Open in Spain.

Wood had six birdies -- five on par 4s -- and a bogey in his second round and is at 8-under 132 after 36 holes. Darren Clarke and Matthew Nixon, who each shot even-par 70 Friday, are tied for second at 5-under. Thomas Levet (65 Friday) and David Lynn (68) are tied for fourth at 4-under 136.

Gregory Bourdy, who owned the first-round lead after a Pula Golf Club course record 7-under 63 Thursday, was 7-over Friday and is tied for 20th at even-par 140 going into the weekend.

Wood opened play Friday with a birdie at the first hole and had a birdie at No. 4 for the second consecutive day. He made the turn at 3-under after a birdie at the 220-yard, par-3 eighth hole.

He jumped into the lead with three birdies over the span of Nos. 11-14 but a bogey at 16th hole brought him back to 5-under for the round.
