CLEVELAND, May 13 (UPI) -- Travis Hafner hit Cleveland's third homer of the game with a man on and two out in the ninth Friday, bringing the Indians a 5-4 win over Seattle.
The teams combined for five homers, the last of them coming against struggling Seattle closer Brandon League.
Seattle took a 4-2 lead in the seventh with a three-run inning featuring a two-run home run by Justin Smoak.
The Mariners were still in front by two heading into the bottom of the ninth and League came on in hopes of breaking out of his recent slump.
Michael Brantley, however, opened the ninth with a double on League's first pitch and Asdrubal Cabrera also hit the first offering from League for a double that brought in Brantley.
The Seattle closer then got two groundouts, giving him a chance to earn what would have been his 10th save. Instead, Hafner hit an 0-1 pitch over the wall in center to win the game for the Indians.
League (0-4) has been the losing pitcher in each of his last four appearances -- all in the space of six days. In those four games he has seven runs on 12 hits while retiring nine batters.
Shin-Soo Choo hit a solo homer for Cleveland in the first and Michael Brantley had another in the third.
The win went to Tony Sipp (2-0), who worked 1 1/3 perfect innings of relief.
