
BOSTON, May 9 (UPI) -- Carl Crawford's double in the 11th inning drove in the winning run for Boston Monday, handing the Red Sox a 2-1 victory over Minnesota.
Jed Lowrie drew a one-out walk from Jim Hoey (0-1) and Crawford followed by pounding a 3-2 pitch off the Green Monster wall in Fenway Park's left field, sending Lowrie around with the winning run.
Hideki Okajima (1-0) earned with victory with two innings of scoreless relief. Boston starter Josh Beckett tossed seven shutout innings, allowing six runs, walking one and striking out five.
Nick Blackburn got the hard-luck no-decision for Minnesota, yielding only one run on seven hits in a 6 1/3-inning start.
Jason Kubel's RBI single in eighth tied the game for the Twins, who lost three out of four games against the Red Sox.
