SAN FRANCISCO, May 8 (UPI) -- Mike Fontenot lifted a sacrifice fly to right in the ninth inning Saturday that gave San Francisco a 3-2 win over Colorado.
The Giants produced the winning run in the ninth for the second evening in a row against the Rockies, who saw their lead over San Francisco in the National League West cut to two games.
Aaron Rowand singled to open the ninth against Felipe Paulino (0-3) and Rowand moved to second on a base hit by Freddy Sanchez.
Both runners advanced on a wild pitch before Fontenot drove in the winning run.
Colorado trailed 2-0 heading into the seventh, but tied it in that inning on a two-run single from Todd Helton.
San Francisco closer Brian Wilson (2-1) came in with score knotted in the ninth and got the win by retiring Dexter Fowler on a groundout with two men on base.
