MEMPHIS, May 7 (UPI) -- Zach Randolph ignited a huge second-half Memphis comeback Saturday and the Grizzlies dominated in overtime to down Oklahoma City 101-93.
The Grizzlies brought cheer to a community threatened by floodwaters from the Mississippi River by taking a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference quarterfinals. Memphis will host Game 4 Monday.
Oklahoma City had a 16-point lead in the third period and still led by 11 with less than 8 minutes to play in the fourth.
Memphis limited the Thunder to just 10 points in the fourth quarter, however, and took an 85-84 lead with 2:21 to go in the period on a free throw from Tony Allen.
Mike Conley added a foul shot for Memphis with 1:47 to play and Oklahoma City tied it on two free throws by Russell Westbrook with 53 seconds remaining. Those Westbrook points were the only ones scored by the Thunder over the final 5:30 of regulation.
Randolph missed a 3-point attempt to win it at the buzzer, but Memphis scored the first six points of overtime and easily held on down the stretch.
Randolph scored 21 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, helping the Grizzlies continue their surprising run in the playoffs. Having grabbed the eighth and final post-season berth in the Western Conference, Memphis knocked out top-seeded San Antonio in the conference quarterfinals.
Mike Conley and O.J. Mayo both scored 18 for Memphis and Marc Gasol had 16. Oklahoma City was led by 23 points from Westbrook and 22 from Kevin Durant.
