BOSTON, May 6 (UPI) -- Scott Baker allowed two solo homers over eight innings and struck out eight Friday to lead the Minnesota Twins past Boston 9-2.
Baker (2-2) helped the Twins run their winning streak to three games, equaling their longest stretch of success so far this season. Minnesota won three in a row in late April, and then suffered five straight losses.
Boston has dropped three straight.
Denard Span had a two-run single during Minnesota's three-run second and the Twins broke it open by scoring four times in the fifth.
Danny Valencia doubled home two runs in the big inning and two more scored on a fielding error by shortstop Jed Lowrie.
Boston's runs came on homers by J.D. Drew in the second and Adrian Gonzalez in the fourth.
Tim Wakefield, in his 19th major league season, made his second start of the year and took the loss. Wakefield (0-1) allowed six runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
