MLB: Florida 8, St. Louis 7

ST. LOUIS, May 5 (UPI) -- Mike Stanton gave Florida the lead with a two-run homer in the ninth Wednesday and the Marlins held on for a wild 8-7 victory over St. Louis.

The Cardinals committed four errors that led to three unearned runs and St. Louis wasted a comeback from an early 6-2 deficit.

Florida took the 6-2 lead with a four-run third inning, two of those runs scoring on a throwing error by catcher Yadier Molina.

It was a 6-6 game entering the ninth, but Hanley Ramirez drew a leadoff walk off Eduardo Sanchez (1-1) and scored on a homer to center by Stanton on a 1-0 pitch.

That made a winner out of Mike Dunn (2-1), who retired all six men he faced over the seventh and eighth innings. Leo Nunez came on in the bottom of the ninth and collected his 11th save despite giving up a one-out homer to pinch-hitter Jon Jay.

Nunez then walked Albert Pujols on four pitches, but Matt Holliday grounded into a double play to end the game.
