TERRASSA, Spain, May 5 (UPI) -- Scott Jamieson used a late birdie Thursday to grab a one-stroke lead after the first round of the European Tour's Spanish Open.
Jamieson had eight birdies and two bogeys en route to a 6-under-par 66. Four golfers, including Pablo Larrazabal and Romain Wattel, who were both bogey-free Thursday, are tied for second at 5-under. The others who shot 67 Thursday are Jeev Milkha Singh and Steve Webster.
Four other golfers are two strokes off Jamieson's lead at 4-under 68 and six others are at 3-under.
Jamieson, in his first year on the tour, opened his round with a birdie at the 10th hole and added another at the 12th. After 14th-hole bogey, Jamieson posted back-to-back birdies at 15 and 16 and capped his first nine with a birdie at the 18th hole.
He got to 5-under on the day with a birdie at the first hole but gave that back at No. 4. A birdie at the fifth hole pulled him even with the early leaders and a 2 at the par-3, 160-yard eighth hole gave him the outright lead.
