LOS ANGELES, May 5 (UPI) -- The NBA suspended forward Ron Artest from Game 3 of the Lakers' playoff series with Dallas after he smacked Dallas guard Jose Barea in the face during Game 2.

Artest was ejected with 24.4 seconds left in Game 2 after receiving his second technical foul of the night for hitting Barea in the face with his forearm.

Either Lamar Odom or Matt Barnes will start for Artest Friday, the Los Angeles Times said.

Artest will forfeit $57,476 in pay because of the suspension.

The Mavericks lead the Lakers 2-0 in the best-of-seven series, which moves to Dallas for Game 3.
