SEATTLE, May 4 (UPI) -- Jack Cust drove in the decisive run with an eighth-inning base hit Tuesday and the Seattle Mariners beat Texas 4-3.
Cust's single drove in the second run of a two-run eighth that lifted the Mariners to their sixth win in seven games and gave David Pauley (1-0) his first victory of the season.

Justin Smoak went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Seattle. The Mariners outhit Texas 10-5.
Pedro Strop (0-1) took the loss in relief for the Rangers. Adrian Beltre, Michael Young and pinch-hitter Elvis Andrus accounted for the Texas runs.
Andrus dropped a suicide squeeze in the top of the eighth that gave Texas a 3-2 lead.
