SAN DIEGO, May 4 (UPI) -- Ryan Doumit finished off a six-run third inning with a grand slam homer Wednesday, propelling Pittsburgh to a 7-4 victory over San Diego.
All six runs in Pittsburgh's big inning were unearned thanks to two errors.
Kevin Correia (5-2) saw his teammates give him a 7-0 lead and he picked up the victory with a six-inning performance in which he gave up two runs on five hits.
Clayton Richard (1-3) allowed only one earned run in five innings, but took the loss.
Andrew McCutchen reached against Richard with a one-out single in the third, after which Xavier Paul hit a dribbler in front of the plate. Catcher Nick Hundley had a play at second to get McCutchen, but threw wildly for an error and both runners were safe.
Matt Diaz then hit a grounder to third baseman Chase Headley, who misplayed the ball for another error.
Neil Walker followed with a single to bring home two runs and Steve Pearce drew a walk to again load the bases. That brought up Doumit, who homered to center on a 3-2 pitch.
Two of the San Diego runs came on ninth-inning solo homers by Brad Hawpe and Eric Patterson.
