OAKLAND, Calif., May 4 (UPI) -- Asdrubal Cabrera's two-run single highlighted a three-run ninth inning for Cleveland Tuesday and the Indians downed Oakland 4-1.
Orlando Cabrera tied the score with a base hit and Cabrera drove in the winning run off Oakland closer Brian Fuentes (1-3).
Fausto Carmona (3-3) picked up the win, allowing one run on five hits and five strikeouts over eight innings. Chris Perez handled the final inning for his eighth save.
Cabrera has three of Cleveland's 12 hits.
The A's managed only five hits, two from designated hitter Hideki Matsui.
Neither team mounted much of a threat until the Oakland fourth Daric Barton singled and later scored on a pair of groundouts.
Cleveland tied the score in the seventh on a trio of singles including an RBI base hit to center by Matt LaPorta.
