ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 3 (UPI) -- Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, the team said.

Longoria, 25, has missed 26 games with a strained left oblique muscle. He was 0-for-5 with a walk in the two games in which he played this season.

The club designated veteran infielder Felipe Lopez for assignment to clear a roster spot for Longoria.

Lopez hit .222 with two home runs and six RBI in 24 games.
