ST. LOUIS, May 3 (UPI) -- Mike Stanton tripled and scored the go-ahead run on an eighth-inning sacrifice fly Monday, boosting the Florida Marlins to a 6-5 win over St. Louis.
Stanton led off the eighth with a three-bagger against Mitchell Boggs (0-2) and Greg Dobbs followed with a fly to medium-deep right field, allowing Stanton to slide home with the decisive run.
Stanton (3-for-5) also socked a solo homer and Gaby Sanchez blasted a third-inning grand slam for the Marlins, who won for the 13th time in 17 games.
Edward Mujica (3-1) was credited with the victory after tossing two scoreless frames in relief of starter Chris Volstad. Leo Nunez got his 10th save despite allowing a single, a walk and a wild pitch in the ninth.
Lance Berkman smacked a three-run homer and added an RBI single for the Cards, who dropped the first of a four-game series against Florida.
