NBA: Atlanta 103, Chicago 95

CHICAGO, May 2 (UPI) -- Joe Johnson scored 34 points Monday, sparking the Atlanta Hawks to a 103-95 win over Chicago in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Johnson went 5-for-5 from 3-point range and Jamal Crawford added 22 points off the bench for the fifth-seeded Hawks, who surprised the Bulls at home and took the early advantage in their second-round playoff series.

Al Horford hauled down 13 rebounds to go with nine points as the Hawks shot 51.3 percent from the floor.

Derrick Rose scored 24 points and grabbed 10 boards for top-seeded Chicago, which was outscored 28-18 in the first quarter and never recovered.

Luol Deng added 21 points and six boards for the Bulls, who will try to even the series in Wednesday's Game 2.
