MLS: Portland 1, Real Salt Lake 0

PORTLAND, Ore., May 1 (UPI) -- Kenny Cooper scored the game's only goal and the Portland Timbers snapped Real Salt Lake's 18-game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory.

Cooper scored in the 22nd minute after Kalif Alhassan sped down the left wing and sent a cross to the front of the goal, where the Portland forward booted it home from in close for the Timbers (3-3-1).

RSL (4-1-0) had an apparent equalizer called back 10 minutes later when when it was ruled out for a foul.

Salt Lake turned on the pressure at the end, but goalkeeper Troy Perkins was able to stop a Nat Borchers header in the 90th minute.
