COMMERCE CITY, Colo., May 1 (UPI) -- Andre Akpan answered a Chicago score in the 49th minute Saturday, handing the Colorado Rapids a 1-1 draw with the Fire.

Chicago's Marco Pappa broke a scoreless tie in the 43rd minute, redirecting a low cross from Dominic Oduro into the net.

But only 6 minutes later, Akpan responded for Colorado (3-3-1) with his first MLS goal. He took a pass from Omar Cummings inside the area and beat goalkeeper Jon Conway with a shot inside the far post.

The Fire (1-3-3) have gone winless in their last five games.
