Busch dominates Richmond Sprint Cup race

RICHMOND, Va., May 1 (UPI) -- Kyle Busch dominated Saturday, leading for 235 laps before cruising to a victory in the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Busch expertly conserved fuel down the stretch and finished nearly 2 seconds ahead of teammate Denny Hamlin to collect his second win of the season and the 21st of his Sprint Cup Series career.

Busch, Hamlin and third-place finisher Kasey Kahne all gambled that their fuel would hold out on the final 100 laps.

The victory was Busch's third straight at Richmond. He became the first driver since Richard Petty in the early 1970s to accomplish the feat.

David Ragan and Carl Edwards rounded out the Top 5 in a race that saw Jeff Gordon slam into wall in the late going and fall to 39th place.
