BOSTON, April 30 (UPI) -- Doug Fister and two relievers teamed up on a seven-hit shutout Saturday and the Seattle Mariners whitewashed Boston 2-0.
Fister (2-3) logged his second straight strong start after allowing only one run over six innings in his previous outing. The left-hander limited the Red Sox to five hits over 5 2/3 frames, overcoming five walks while striking out four.
Aaron Laffey hurled 2 1/3 scoreless innings and Brandon League gained his seventh save in the ninth for the Mariners, who won their second straight in a three-game series at Fenway Park.
Milton Bradley and Jack Wilson drove in the Mariners' runs.
Bosox starter John Lackey (2-3) absorbed the loss, surrendering two runs on seven hits over six innings.
The Red Sox lost for the fourth time in five games.
