CLEVELAND, April 30 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Indians outlasted Detroit 3-2 Saturday with Orlando Cabrera driving in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 13th inning.
Michael Brantley (3-for-6) led off the frame with a single and took second on a throwing error by Tigers pitcher Brayan Villarreal (1-1).
Asdrubal Cabrera sacrificed him to third, and later Shin-Soo Choo and Carlos Santana were intentionally walked to fill the bases. Orlando Cabrera then belted the first pitch from Villarreal over the head of center fielder Austin Jackson, sending Brantley home with the winning run.
The victory was a franchise-record 18th in April for the American League Central-leading Indians.
Tony Sipp (1-0) earned the victory with two scoreless frames.
Ryan Raburn and Miguel Cabrera each had two hits including a solo home run for the Tigers.
