CINCINNATI, April 29 (UPI) -- John Buck highlighted a five-run first with a three-run homer Friday and Florida fought off a Cincinnati comeback bid to down the Reds 7-6.

Cincinnati scored twice in the ninth and had the potential tying run on second before Leo Nunez struck out Jay Bruce looking to end the game.

Florida won for the eighth time in 10 games with Javier Vazquez (2-2) getting the victory. He went six innings while allowing four runs on four hits with three walks.

The Marlins roughed up Travis Wood (1-3) over 3 1/3 innings. He gave up seven runs on eight hits. The Reds have lost 10 of their last 15 outings.

Florida had a 7-1 lead through 3 1/2 innings, but Jeremy Hermida hit a three-run homer for the Reds in the bottom of the fourth.

It remained a 7-4 contest into the last of the ninth before Nunez gave up back-to-back, one-out doubles to Ramon Hernandez and Paul Janish.

Drew Stubbs then singled with two away to bring home Janish and cut the Cincinnati deficit to one. Stubbs stole second while Bruce was at the plate, but Bruce fanned on four pitches to give Nunez his eighth save.
