PITTSBURGH, April 28 (UPI) -- James McDonald and four relievers combined on a six-hitter Wednesday and carried the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 2-0 victory over San Francisco.

McDonald (1-2) picked up his 10th major league win over parts of four seasons with the Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers. He gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three over six innings.

Joel Hanrahan closed out the relief effort with his seventh save, getting Miguel Tejada on a double play after giving up a walk and a single in the ninth.

The Pittsburgh runs came on RBI singles by Chris Snyder in the second and Jose Tabata in the seventh.

Madison Bumgarner (0-4) suffered the hard-luck loss, surrendering a run on five hits while striking out seven in six innings.
