NEW YORK, April 28 (UPI) -- Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer and had four RBI in a 13-hit attack Thursday that lifted the New York Yankees to a 12-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.
The teams split a four-game series.
Brett Gardner's solo homer touched off a six-run New York fifth inning that included an RBI single by Swisher, who also drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the first run of the game in the third and smacked a two-run shot to finish the scoring in the seventh. The White Sox trailed 9-0 before they could produce a run.
CC Sabathia (2-1) allowed three unearned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts over seven innings to pick up the victory.
Edwin Jackson (2-3) was roughed up for six runs on four hits in four-plus innings to absorb the loss. He walked five.
The White Sox have lost five out of seven.
