MLB: Oakland 9, Seattle 1

SEATTLE, April 24 (UPI) -- Kevin Kouzmanoff blasted a three-run homer and Cliff Pennington added a two-run shot Saturday in the Oakland Athletics' 9-1 rout of Seattle.

Kouzmanoff also notched a run-scoring single to finish with four RBI and Pennington contributed two hits and two runs scored for the A's, who racked up their highest run total of the season after coming off two straight shutouts.

Coco Crisp went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and Conor Jackson chipped in with two hits and a run driven in Oakland's 12-hit attack.

Trevor Cahill (3-0) limited the Mariners to one run on seven hits over six innings, walking one and striking out two.

Mariners starter Jason Vargas (0-2) was pounded for six runs on six hits in a five-inning start.

Jack Wilson provided the only RBI for Seattle, which saw its two-game winning streak over Oakland snapped.
