MLB: Florida 4, Colorado 1

MIAMI, April 22 (UPI) -- Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the ninth Friday and wound up going the distance while striking nine in leading Florida to a 4-1 victory over Colorado.

The Rockies scored a run in the first inning thanks to a passed ball and a fielding error and Sanchez then surrendered only two walks through the next seven frames.

His bid for a no-hitter ended, however, when Dexter Fowler singled to lead off the ninth. Fowler was immediately erased in a double play and Sanchez got Carlos Gonzalez on a groundout to end the game.

Sanchez (1-1) threw 120 pitches in his fourth complete game in 85 career starts. He also drove in the go-ahead run in the second with a fielder's choice grounder.

Chris Coghlan and Gaby Sanchez both hit solo homers for the Marlins, who won their fourth straight.

The loss went to Jhoulys Chacin (3-1), who surrendered four runs on seven hits in five innings.
