MLB: Chicago White Sox 9, Tampa Bay 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 21 (UPI) -- A double by Omar Vizquel touched off a four-run third inning Thursday that sent the Chicago White Sox on their way to a 9-2 win over Tampa Bay.

The White Sox snapped a seven-game losing streak, with Gavin Floyd striking out seven in a six-inning effort.

Vizquel drove in a run with a groundout in the first and Chicago still had a 1-0 lead going into the third. Juan Pierre reached on a one-out bunt single in the third and stole second before coming home on the double by Vizquel.

Carlos Quentin was then hit by a pitch, Paul Konerko singled home Vizquel and Quentin came across on a base hit by Adam Dunn. Alex Rios drew a walk to load the bases and A.J. Pierzynski delivered the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly.

Floyd (2-1) allowed two runs on seven hits.

Chicago roughed up Jeff Niemann (0-3) for five runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The Rays had a three-game winning streak halted. Vizquel, Quentin and Konerko all had two RBI.
