NBA: Dallas 101, Portland 89

DALLAS, April 20 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 33 points Tuesday to give the Dallas Mavericks a 101-89 win over Portland in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Peja Stojakovic added 21 points off the bench and Jason Kidd chipped in 20 for Mavericks, who lead the series 2-0.

Nowitzki was 9-of-22 from the field and 15-of-17 from the line for the Mavs, who shot 48.7 percent as a team and hit eight 3-point shots.

LaMarcus Aldridge led Portland with 33 points. Andre Miller and Shawn Gerald Wallace tallied 18 apiece.

The Trail Blazers led 52-50 at halftime and trailed by one point entering the third quarter, but they were outscored 28-17 in the fourth quarter.

Wesley Matthews drove for two to cut the deficit to 90-84 with 4 minutes left, but Nowitzki made two straight baskets around a miss by Aldridge.

Nowitzki iced the game with a long jumper for a 98-86 cushion with 2 minutes remaining.
