GLENDALE, Ariz., April 19 (UPI) -- Ruslan Salei and Drew Miller scored within the first 2:41 Monday and Detroit grabbed a 3-0 first-round playoff series lead with a 4-2 victory over Phoenix.

The two quick goals put the Coyotes in an immediate hole and the Red Wings added tallies by Valtteri Filppula and Johan Franzen to nail down their third straight victory over sixth-seeded Phoenix in the best-of-seven series.

Niklas Kronwall added a pair of assists and Jimmy Howard turned aside 28-of-30 shots for the third-seeded Red Wings, who will try for a series sweep in Wednesday's Game 4.

David Schlemko and Ray Whitney scored and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 30-of-34 shots for the Coyotes, who fell at home after two straight setbacks in Detroit.
