MLB: Detroit 8, Seattle 3

SEATTLE, April 19 (UPI) -- Jhonny Peralta's bases-clearing triple highlighted a big seventh-inning rally Monday that propelled the Detroit Tigers to an 8-3 win over Seattle.

The Tigers broke open a close game with six runs in the seventh.

Detroit took a 3-2 lead when Ryan Raburn scored on a wild pitch by Josh Lueke (1-1) and Miguel Cabrera followed a Magglio Ordonez walk with a run-scoring single.

Chris Ray came in to pitch, and after issuing a walk to Casper Wells, surrendered an RBI single to Ramon Santiago to make it 5-2 Detroit. Brennan Boesch was given an intentional walk and Peralta followed with a three-run triple to cap the rally.

Tigers starter Max Scherzer (3-0) earned with victory with two runs on six hits over six innings, walking four and struck out seven.

Justin Smoak and Milton Bradley homered as Seattle fell to 5-12.
