KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 19 (UPI) -- Shelley Duncan's RBI double in the 10th inning Monday opened the door to a four-run rally that lifted the Cleveland Indians to a 7-3 win over Kansas City.
After the Royals' Tim Collins (1-1) issued a leadoff walk to Carlos Santana in the 10th, Duncan stroked a broken-bat liner down the left field line that chased Santana home and put the Indians up 4-3.
Jack Hannahan and Grady Sizemore also drove in runs in the big inning, handing first-place Cleveland its 12th win in 14 games.
Sizemore finished 3-for-5 and Matt LaPorta added two hits and an RBI as the Indians continued their best start since 1999.
Melky Cabrera, Alex Gordon and Wilson Betemit drove in runs for the Royals, who fell two games behind the Indians atop the American League Central standings.
