OAKLAND, Calif., April 18 (UPI) -- Oakland Athletics left-hander Dallas Braden's stiff throwing shoulder has landed him on the 15-day disabled list, the team said Monday.
Braden was five innings into the A's game against Detroit Saturday when he was taken out because of the arm issue.
He is 1-1 with a 3.00 earned run average in three starts this season. He was 11-14 with a 3.50 ERA last season when he threw the 19th perfect game in big league history.
Oakland also acquired left-handed David Purcey from Toronto Monday, giving up minor league pitcher Danny Farquhar in return. Purcey made five relief appearances for the Jays this season, giving up three earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. For his career, he is 5-10 with a 5.42 ERA in 59 games, including 21 starts.
To make room for him on their roster, the Athletics put pitcher Rich Harden (strained shoulder) on the 60-day disabled list.
Farquhar allowed one unearned run in eight innings at Class AAA Sacramento this season.
