PORTLAND, Ore., April 17 (UPI) -- Rodney Wallace scored in the 55th minute Sunday, capping a three-goal outburst that sent the Portland Timbers to a 3-2 victory over FC Dallas.
Wallace's goal gave the Timbers (2-2-1) a 3-0 lead. Kalif Alhassan set up the play by eluding five defenders and Wallace pounded the loose ball home from 14 yards out.
His goal, which followed earlier tallies by Kenny Cooper and Jack Jewsbury, proved to be the game-winner as Dallas stormed back with a pair of late goals.
David Ferreira found the net in the 83rd minute after receiving a pass from Brek Shea deep inside the area and directed the ball inside the near post.
Only 3 minutes later, Shea sent a pass from Ferreira into the net past Portland goalkeeper Jake Gleeson.
Dallas (1-3-1), however, could come no closer.
