PHOENIX, April 17 (UPI) -- Stephen Drew grounded an RBI single in the 12th inning Sunday, handing the Arizona Diamondbacks a 6-5 decision over San Francisco.
Justin Upton and Chris Young drew back-to-back, one-out walks from Dan Runzler (1-2) in the bottom of the 12th. Javier Lopez came in to pitch and Drew greeted him with ground ball hit into right field.
The throw to the plate from Nate Schierholtz was late and up the third-base line, allowing Upton to slide in with the game-winner.
Josh Collmenter (1-0) was credited with the victory after tossing two scoreless innings of relief for the D-backs, who avoided a sweep in the three-game series.
Drew ended with three RBI and Upton smacked a solo homer for Arizona.
Aubrey Huff, Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval hit home runs in the Giants' loss.
