Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ORLANDO, Fla., April 16 (UPI) -- Joe Johnson put in 25 points Saturday and Atlanta registered a 103-93 victory over Orlando in the opener of their Eastern Conference quarterfinals series.
Jamal Crawford added 23 points, Al Horford contributed 16 and Josh Smith provided 15 for the fifth-seeded Hawks.
Atlanta collected only its third post-season road win in 22 tries and shook off six straight losses to end the regular season.
The Hawks secured the victory despite a big night by the Magic's Dwight Howard, who poured in 46 points -- tying the record for the most ever scored in a playoff game by an Orlando player.
Howard also hauled down 19 rebounds and Jameer Nelson pumped in 27 points for the Magic, who will host Game 2 Tuesday.
