MLB: Detroit 8, Oakland 4 (10 innings)

OAKLAND, Calif., April 16 (UPI) -- Brennan Boesch triggered a seven-run 10th-inning uprising with a two-run double Friday and the Detroit Tigers logged a wild 8-4 win over Oakland.

The Athletics led 1-0 for much of the game but the Tigers forced an extra frame when Miguel Cabrera socked a solo homer in the top of the ninth to tie it.

Detroit then sent 11 men to the plate in the 10th to put the game away. A's first baseman Daric Barton and reliever Brian Fuentes (0-1) each committed errors before Boesch (3-for-5) lined a pitch down the right field line to put the Tigers up 3-1.

Detroit went on to get RBI from Victor Martinez, Brandon Inge and Alex Avila before the inning ended, making a winner of Brayan Villarreal (1-0), who had recorded the final two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

The Tigers evened their record at .500 with their fourth straight win.

Oakland starter Brandon McCarthy got a hard-luck no-decision after tossing 6 2/3 scoreless innings, during which he yielded six hits and one walk while fanning seven.
