PORTLAND, Ore., April 15 (UPI) -- Jorge Perlaza netted a pair of goals for Portland Thursday, handing the expansion Timbers their first-ever MLS win with a 4-2 decision over Chicago.

Perlaza scored in the 29th minute after collecting a pass from Kenny Cooper in the box. He avoided Chicago's Logan Pause and fired a shot past goalie Sean Johnson for 1-0 lead.

After Rodney Wallace's goal put Portland up 2-0 in the 47th minute, Perlaza struck again a minute later when Johnson couldn't control a crossing pass and the Timbers' forward booted it in from close range.

Mamadou Danso also scored for the Timbers (1-2-1).

Portland scored an own-goal when Eric Brunner played the ball into his own net and Marco Pappa tallied for the Fire (1-2-1).
