Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CINCINNATI, April 15 (UPI) -- Garrett Jones and Neil Walker homered and Charlie Morton allowed one run on five hits over nine innings Friday in Pittsburgh's 6-1 win over Cincinnati.
Morton (2-0) came within one out of a four-hit shutout before serving up a home run to the Reds' Jay Bruce with two out in the bottom of the ninth. He struck out three and walked two.
Jose Tabata had four hits and Chris Snyder was 3-for-5 with two RBI as part of a 14-hit Pirates attack.
Cincinnati starter Bronson Arroyo (2-1) allowed five runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts over four innings.
