Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PHOENIX, April 13 (UPI) -- Juan Miranda and Justin Upton both hit three-run homers Tuesday in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 13-8 win over St. Louis.
Chris Young contributed to the 16-hit Arizona attack by going 3-for-4 and driving in three runs in support of Armando Galarraga (2-0), who got the win despite giving up five runs on nine hits -- three of them home runs -- over five innings.
Chris Carpenter (0-2) took the loss after being roughed up for eight runs on eight hits over four innings.
Lance Berkman, Colby Rasmus and David Freese had solo home runs for the Cardinals, who racked up 14 hits.
A four-run sixth inning put the game away for the Diamondbacks. Neither team scored the rest of the way.
