NEW ORLEANS, April 12 (UPI) -- New Orleans Hornets forward David West had successful surgery on a torn knee ligament Tuesday, the team said.
Dr. David Altchek performed the procedure on West's left anterior cruciate ligament in New York.

Medics expect West to make a full recovery with six to eight months of rehabilitation. The timetable means the eight-year pro could be ready for the start of next season.
West, 30, injured his knee against Utah in a March 24 game after coming down hard following a game-tying dunk.
The Hornets' leading scorer was averaging 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds in 70 games.
