Astros skipper Mills suspended one game

NEW YORK, April 12 (UPI) -- Houston Astros Manager Brad Mills was suspended one game and fined Tuesday, two days after being ejected from game against Florida.

Mills was tossed from Sunday's contest after Astros pitcher Aneury Rodriguez threw at and hit Florida's Gaby Sanchez in the ninth inning. Umpires had issued a warning earlier.

Mills will miss Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs with bench coach Al Pedrique assuming the managerial duties.

Rodriguez also earned a three-game suspension and was fined an undisclosed amount. The Houston right-hander is appealing the suspension and will be allowed to play in the meantime.
