Schwartzel moves to 11th in golf rankings

VIRGINIA WATER, England, April 11 (UPI) -- Charl Schwartzel's strong finish in winning the Masters has him on the verge of entering the Top 10 in the world men's golf rankings.

Schwartzel has five European Tour victories, including the last two Joburg Opens in his native South Africa, but his two-stroke win Sunday at Augusta, Ga., marked his first major tournament title and first win in the United States.

By winning the Masters, Schwartzel jumps from 29th to No. 11 in the latest world golf rankings.

There are some changes in the Top 10, all brought about by Luke Donald and Tiger Woods finishing tied for fourth at Augusta.

Martin Kaymer, with a ranking points average of 7.798, remains No. 1 despite not making the cut for the Masters and Lee Westwood, who ended up tied for 11th Sunday, is second at 7.528.

Donald (6.971) moves from fourth to third, switching places with Phil Mickelson (6.733), who tied for 27th at the Masters.

Woods (6.070) goes from seventh to fifth, forcing Graeme McDowell (6.019) and Paul Casey (5.643) each down one spot to sixth and seventh, respectively.

No. 8-ranked Steve Stricker (5.598), ninth-ranked Rory McIlroy (5.517) and No. 10 Matt Kuchar (5.211) complete the Top 10. Schwartzel's point average is 5.162.
