LAS VEGAS, April 10 (UPI) -- Dave Rice has taken over as men's head basketball coach at Nevada-Las Vegas, school officials said Sunday.
The former Brigham Young associate head coach replaces Lon Kruger, who resigned to take a similar job at Oklahoma.

Rice, who played at UNLV from 1989-91, beat out Mike Dunlap, Ernie Kent and Reggie Theus for the position. He was a member of UNLV's 1989-90 national championship team.
The Running' Rebels compiled a 24-9 record and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season. They lost to Illinois in the first round.
