Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DENVER, April 10 (UPI) -- David Jones's power-play goal in overtime Sunday lifted the Colorado Avalanche to a season-ending 4-3 victory over Edmonton.
The tally, with 1:03 remaining in the extra frame, gave the Avalanche a disappointing 30-44-8 record for the year, second-worst in the league behind the Oilers, who ended at 25-45-12.
Milan Hejduk, Ryan O'Reilly and Philippe Dupuis also scored, and Peter Budaj stopped 25-of-28 shots for Colorado.
Teemu Hartikainen, Kurtis Foster and Liam Reddox found the net for Edmonton.
Nikolai Khabibulin made 21 saves for the Oilers.
