LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Saku Koivu's goal and assist Saturday sent Anaheim to a 3-1 win over Los Angeles and secured the Ducks home ice in the first round of the playoffs.
The win in their final regular-season game gave the Ducks 99 points (47-30-5) and ensured they would finish no lower than fourth in the Western Conference playoff seedings.
Anaheim finished in a tie with Nashville and Phoenix, but held the tiebreaker over both because of a greater number of non-shootout victories.
The Ducks also got goals from Francois Beauchemin and Brandon McMillan.
Dan Ellis was busy in net, making for 43 saves in the victory.
The playoff-bound Kings, meanwhile, fell into the West's seventh seed pending Sunday's final day of regular-season NHL action.
Jonathan Quick made only 17 saves and Ryan Smyth scored for Los Angeles, which finished with 98 points (46-30-6).
