NHL: Nashville 4, Columbus 1

NASHVILLE, April 9 (UPI) -- Pekka Rinne stayed busy with 44 saves Friday, leading the Nashville Predators to a 4-1 decision over Columbus.

The Predators officially wrapped up a playoff berth, having begun play Friday one point behind Los Angeles for fourth place in the Western Conference.

Patric Hornqvist scored twice to give him 21 goals for the season. He produced the only first-period goal and gave the Predators a 3-0 lead 2:42 into the second.

The only Columbus goal came from Derick Brassard with 1:28 left in the middle period.

Steve Mason surrendered all four goals on 25 shots. Columbus lost its fifth straight.
